Hummingbirds Sonnet

Stoked by desire,

The flame settles;

A steady bead of light

Carved through midnight touches,

Physical affection,

Passions reflected,

Hearts expanded masses

Until thermodynamics

Leaves us cold, gray ashes.

Still.

The fire may wane,

Howling evenings

Now abbreviated flames,

You can still feel it,

Feelings unexplained;

With nothing left to burn for heat,

A tender love remains.
